USA Dance Georgetown Social Dance

Saturday, March 16, 2024, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

A group lesson in Samba will be taught by Tim and Monica Turner from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., followed by a mix of Ballroom, Latin, Swing, and a touch of Country. Join us for a fun evening including Door Prizes and maybe even a Line Dance!. The dance is beginner friendly and no partner is necessary.

Flash lessons will be offered to beginner dancers.Wear snug and comfy shoes that glide. Don't have any? Wear socks or apply duct tape to your soles.

COVID: Because we want our dancers to feel comfortable, we're offering masks and hand sanitizer. Name tags will either have a red, green, or yellow dot. Yellow means "I will only dance if we wear masks", Red means I'll dance with my partner only", and green means "I am free to dance with anyone". Masks are encouraged but not required.

Tim & Monica

Tim and Monica Turner met in a music history class while attending UT-Austin in the 80's. Both came from musical families and they soon started dancing together at social events. Monica's background was in ballet and show choir while Tim played trombone in the Georgetown High School marching band.

They got their first taste of ballroom dancing at the Great Waltz on campus.

After marrying and starting their family they were honored to play a role in the establishment of the Georgetown chapter of USA Dance. Once their two sons reached high-school age they attended the dances as well.

Tim and Monica have been teaching classes for the Sun City Ballroom Dance Club for about two years. He enjoys bringing his engineering mindset to lessons and she enjoys bringing the fun and flourishes.

They look forward to sharing their love of Samba with their USA Dance family!
